This week, I created my first-ever video—me, Deek Rhew, yakking about Mafiya. Picture an amateur suburban barn-raiser or the Titanic builders, eyeballing a pile of building materials one Saturday morning, thinking: “How hard can it be?” TikTok and YouTube pros churn these out faster than a toupee in a hurricane, so I figured—easy weekend gig, right?
Wrong.
Scottie from Star Trek nailed it describing transwarp beaming: “It’s like trying to hit a bullet with a smaller bullet whilst wearing a blindfold, riding a horse.” Spoiler: I aimed for Spielberg, landed on a ransom video.
Cue my grand plan: a slick 60-second intro for me and Mafiya. I wrote a script, fired up the camera, flipped on the lights, and hit Record.

Three scene changes, five outfit swaps, and dozens of takes later—plus some soul-crushing, stare-into-the-oatmeal self-critique—I birthed a 60-second mashup. Think Moira Rose’s Herb Ertlinger ad meets an unrepentant I Am a Killer parole plea. Verdict? Writing’s my gig—acting’s off the table.
