This has been a very long time coming. I've been working on 122 Rules for the better part of five years. FIVE! Of course in the process I was doing a ton more than just writing this book; I was learning a new profession. Figuring out who I am as an author, taking a tour around the school of Hard Knocks, and completely falling in love with the craft.
I have a much greater appreciation for all those books that grace the shelves of Barnes and Noble and your local library. Someone, actually thousands of someones, spent countless hours toiling over the wording, gallons of elbow grease fixing story lines, and a million gray-matter cycles trying to make their imaginary world a place you'll think of and miss long after you snap closed the cover and put it on the shelf.
In the end, I can say that it was SO totally worth it. Here it is. The finish line is in site, and 122 Rules is about to be unleashed on the world. Eeep!
Oddly, though my book is about a federal assassin that grows a conscience mid-assignment, it's also a love story. You see, during my writer journey, I met and fell in love with the beautiful and brilliant, Erin Rhew. As my very first editor, she and I had some of our very first conversations in the margins of this book. Conversations that amazingly and magically have never stopped.

I've joked that I loved her writing so much, I had to marry the author. :-) But this books wouldn't have come to fruition without her. There's no possibility. Even if I never go anywhere with my writing, even if this is it, I have been a smashing success because it lead me to Erin.

Okay, so without further ado, I bring to you the first in the 122 Rules series!
This art was the brain child of myself, Erin, Anita, Zara, and Matt. See, it really does take a village! The uber-talented Anita from Race-Point, did several iterations under the watchful and creative eyes of Zara and Matt. And with a few final tweaks from the folks at Panda it was done!

ReplyDeleteWhat, it only took you five years for your first novel. Hell, I worked on mine for twenty years! LOL Congrats on a great novel. I loved the manuscript when I read it months ago and I'm scheduling around reading the finished version. To anyone reading this comment, buy this book! Deek has a unique quality to his writing that draws you into the story immediately and, next thing you know, it's well past bedtime and you're halfway through the book. This is your chance to discover a great author before everyone else does.
